Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced service.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a final set.

He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
